Gary Jacobs at ICMG 2010

#ICMG2012 – We’re in the Homestretch, the Final Countdown. I can’t wait to see all of you in Phoenix! We’re hoping there’s no last-minute snowstorm this year, although it was an interesting use of technology when we “skyped in” Gary Jacobs from his office in 2010 – remember that?

In anticipation of ICMG’s most tech-savvy annual meeting ever, we are kicking off the new ICMG blog! Please add your thoughts and suggestions in the Comments below. It’s simple! Enter your name, email, and informal thoughts in the form below. For more convenience, you have the option to click the Disqus Login link and create a “commenting profile” so it prefills for you next time (here and in any other blog using Disqus). Perhaps add your headshot to your Disqus profile so people get another chance to associate a name with a face. Seriously, Comment and Share – it’s what ICMG is all about.

Why a blog for ICMG when we also have the Linkedin Group, the Web site for News, YouTube, Twitter, and Facebook? A few reasons:

  1. We want to build a reservoir of content on our own site.
  2. It helps with Search Engine Optimization and Online Reputation Management.
  3. Consider it our ecosystem, our space, uniquely our own.

Plus it gives our members yet another outlet to voice their expertise within the industry. So if you have something to say relative to the ICMG value proposition of strategic alliances within the insurance industry, raise your hand. We’d like to hear from you. Send a note to info@icmg.org with your thoughts. Or Comment below with your idea.

We’re planning our blog calendar for 2012 now – and we’ll be featuring YOU and fellow members. Send me a topic you’d like to write a SHORT couple of paragraphs about, and I’ll put you on the schedule. That’s info@icmg.org.

Next, Subscribe to the ICMG Blog on the right side for automatic notifications via email. Or use the RSS feed above that. Certainly Follow us on LinkedinTwitter, and Facebook. As we’re all starting to see, each has its own purpose.

See you at the meeting. Check out the 10-Day forecast for Phoenix. Yes!

Also want to give a shout out to Webwisedom and Telezent for their help getting our blog online!

Thanks for the shout, Audrey. Yep, I’m pretty excited that the ICMG Board saw the wisdom of a blog for ICMG. It should serve the organization well, not only as yet another way to share information, network, and promote, but equally important – as a major boost to the SEO of ICMG.org.

And yeah, from a technology standpoint, my partner, Telezent, (who I discovered via Social, by the way), absolutely did a stunning job – 8 days and $1500 – with a spot-on result. Seriously! I just shake my head. That’s a story in and of itself, especially when you compare it to the vast majority of ICMG members and their experiences of getting simple marketing sites in place, not to mention state-of-the-art blogs. (Again, sorry, I love ICMG, so I’m just a little excited.) They also did the /mobi site if readers want to hit that with their Smartphones. http://icmg.org/mobi/

Btw, a quick reminder to readers re the last-minute Linkedin booster-shot session at the meeting on Wednesday morning from 830-10am (yeah, I’d rather be playing golf, too.) I appreciate the Board asking me to do this. Happy to help. I’ll be sharing the basics and will touch on some of “the good stuff” as well, also touching on Twitter.

Again, kudo’s to you and the Board for always seeking to stay current and relevant in the marketplace, even if that means stretching out of comfort zones. ICMG – really, really good.
